We aim to cater for all running abilities, whether you’re completely new to running or a marathon or ultra runner. We post our groups on our Facebook page in advance so that runners can choose their group.
A typical week’s sessions may include:
Run/Walk group: for those who are new or returning to running.
5K group: running at 12 min+ per mile with an option to add an extra mile.
4 mile group: running at 11-12 minutes per mile.
5 mile group: running at 10-11 minutes per mile.
6 mile group: running at 9-10 minutes per mile.
6-7 mile group: running at 8-9 minutes per mile.
From time to time, we also offer trail runs and head torch runs which are suitable for any pace.
All groups are led by qualified run leaders and/or experienced volunteers. Run leaders/volunteers will plan the route, taking into account the running conditions and weather. Each group will have a volunteer tail runner to ensure that no runner is left behind. Run leaders carry a first aid kit and mobile phone.
One of our members, Kevin C (a former coach), also offers free weekly hill and speed sessions. These take place in Pontefract or Castleford on Tuesdays at 7pm and are open to all members. Kevin will post weekly on our Facebook page to give details of where to meet and what the session will include. Kevin also offers occasional track sessions which include a small charge for use of the track.
